What you'll need

  • Corel® Media™ Plus
  • Sample image MediaOne_01.jpg (download)

When you complete this tutorial, you'll be able to

  • Find a photo using the search field
  • Remove blemishes
  • Whiten teeth
  • Paint on a tan

Open the photo

  1. Download the MediaOne_01 image, and save it in your My Pictures folder.

  2. Once you have the image saved, begin typing the file name MediaOne_01 in the search box at the top of the screen. Your collection of image files is automatically filtered. When you find the sample image, double-click the photo to open it in the workspace.

Remove Blemishes

  1. From the Enhance area of the task panel, scroll down and click Makeover. This will open the Makeover palette.

  2. On the Makeover palette, click the Blemish Fixer button.

  3. Zoom in on the photo so that you can clearly see the man's face. You can zoom in by using the zoom slider in the upper-right corner of the screen. Use the scrollbars at the bottom and side of the photo to best position the man's face.

  4. When working on your photos, you can experiment to find the best settings for the Strength and Size controls. For this example, set the Strength control at 50 and set the Size control to 20.

  5. Place the cursor directly over the blemish between the man's eyebrows so that the blemish is enclosed by the inner circle of the cursor, and then click. Next, pan down toward the bottom of the picture, and zap the blemishes on his chin.

Whiten Teeth

  1. Now, let's whiten the woman's teeth. On the Makeover palette click the Toothbrush button.

  2. Zoom in on the woman's teeth. Place the cursor over a tooth, and then click once. You don't actually have to brush - the woman's entire smile is whitened in one click! For a brighter smile, you can adjust the Strength control on the Makeover palette.

Paint on a Tan

  1. Now on the Makeover palette, click the Suntan button. For this adjustment, you need to zoom out so that you can see the woman's whole face.

  2. Position the cursor, and paint a tan on the woman's skin. You can adjust the cursor size by increasing the Size setting. Note: If you paint an area unintentionally, you can undo the result by clicking the undo button at the top of the MediaOne workspace.

  3. Now all you need to do is save your photo and show it off to all your friends!
